Benjamin Blake was born in 1612/14. He died in 1689 in South Carolina. Went to the West Indies and commanded ships at Santa Cruz in 1657. "The Immigrant". On July 5, 1683, he was granted 1090 acres later called "Pawlets" (May 10, 1682), and "Plainsfield" (July 5, 1683). He was Lords Proprietors Deputy about 1685, and member of the Grand Council of Carolina. He settled in Charleston, SC, where he was the Clerk of the Crown and Peace for South Carolina.
