Constance Hornung was the wife of the celebrated author, Ernest William Hornung, creator of Raffles, The Amateur Cracksman. She was the daughter of Charles Altamont Doyle and Mary Doyle and the sister of Dr. Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes. Constance and Ernest were married at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church in the district of St. George's, Hanover Square, London on Wednesday, 27th September, 1893. The groom was twenty seven and the bride twenty five. The couple had one son, Arthur Oscar, who was killed on 6th July, 1915 at Ypres.
