About Conway Tearle
Conway Tearle was an American actor of the silent and early sound film era. He appeared in 93 films between 1914 and 1936. He was the half-brother of actor Godfrey Tearle.
On December 16, 1931, Conway appeared with co-star Kay Francis at the grand opening of the Paramount Theater in Oakland, California, which hosted the premiere of their film The False Madonna, released by Paramount Pictures.
In the sound era, Tearle was reduced mostly to B movies but he managed a major hit on Broadway in the original 1932 production of Dinner at Eight, creating the role of fading screen idol Larry Renault which would later be played on film by John Barrymore.
He was born in New York, New York and died in Hollywood, California from a heart attack, aged 60.
