After an illness of several weeks as a result of old age, Mr. Cornelius Larson passed away at the home of his son Charles in DeSmet on the 21st. of November. The funeral was held on Sunday last conducted by Rev. Hofstad, and the remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetary in Spirit Lake township. Cornelius Larson was born in Sange, Norway, March 14, 1830. On June 24, 1854 he was married to Anna Erikson, and and the following year they came to America, settling in Vernon county, Wis. where he operated a farm until 1883, when he moved to South Dakota. Mr. Larson located at Spirit Lake township, this county until about two weeks ago when he came with his family to DeSmet. Besides farming Mr. Larson was a blacksmith and had shops at differant times at Bryant and at Vienna. Surviving him are his aged wife, sons Louis, Martin and Charles all living in the vicinity of DeSmet, and daughters, Mrs. Ludwig Rasmussen of Willow Lake, Mrs. John Eng of Moball, ND; Mrs. George Cole of Linleton, Colorado; Mrs. James McCaskell and Mrs. Fred McCaskell of DeSmet.
