Mitchell, 85, were held Friday, Oct. 22, at the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Jiggs Stowe of Olney officiating.
Interment with military honors followed in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Elbert to the late L.E. and Murial (Cox) Mitchell. He died Tuesday, Oct. 19,2004, in an Olney nursing center.
He and Blanche Ilene Devers were married July 25,1946, in Megargel. She preceded him in death Oct. 13, 2000.
Mr. Mitchell served in the Army T Patch 36th Division for four years. He was injured in battle during WWII.
He moved to Olney from Megargel in 1969. He was a farmer and painter for 40 years and also had worked for Lunn Furniture and Funeral Home for several years. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter Jan Mitchell of Olney and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons Don Mitchell and Murrie Allen Mitchell; a daughter Josephine Mitchell; four brothers and three sisters.
