Crystal Deters, 96, of Grand Haven, formerly of Burnips, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Crystal was born in Salem Township, March 3, 1920, to Howard and Freeda (Bachman) Loew. She graduated from Hudsonville High School and later married Clarence Deters in 1945. She worked in the De Jongh grocery store in Burnips, and later as the bookkeeper for Clarence's plumbing and heating business. Crystal and Clarence were long-time members of Life Change Community Church (Burnips Wesleyan). Crystal played piano and organ for many years for church. Clarence preceded her in death in 1997, after 52 years of marriage.
Crystal is survived by her children: Joy and Barry Coffey of Jenison, Myra and Gary Zwagerman of Bentheim; grandchildren Landon Reimink, Lance Coffey, Landry Coffey, Shon Del Reimink, Courtney Jones; step grandchildren: Eric Zwagerman, Nicole Zwagerman, Danyelle Russ, Sara DiCocco; 10 great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Carol and Bob Wright of Shelby, Bonieta and Clifford Harmsen of Burnips; brother-in-law Eugene Friesen of Green Valley, AZ.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Life Change Church, 3014 Newell Street, Burnips MI 49314. The Rev. Steve Jones will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Tuesday, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland, and also 10:00-10:45 prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Salem Twp. Cemetery.
