About Cyrus Willard Boles
Cyrus Willard Boles, 80, a well known farmer and fruit grower of Jefferson Township, died Saturday at 12;30 o'clock at his home one-half mile east of Eldersville on the Burgettstown road. His death followed an illness of some duration due to Bright's disease. Mr Boles, a son of William and Ruth Ann Jackson Boles, was born on the farm on which he died and had spent his entire life. He was one of nine children, all of whom have preceded him in death except one. He had followed farming and fruit raising all of his life and was widely known. He never married. The ancestors of Mr Boles were among the early pioneers of Washington County. His great grandfather, Jacob Buxton, was said to have been the seventh white man to set foot on Jefferson Township soil. He tool up a tract of 413 acres, part of which is still in the Boles family. Mr Boles led a quiet retired life on the farm and never sought office although he took an active interest in politics. He is survived by one brother, McClelland (Doc) Boles on the old Boles homestead, one of the well known fruit men of Washington County, He is the last member of this well known family and the brothers have resided together for many years. A brother, John A Boles, died last October at Burgettstown. One niece, Miss Helen Boles, of Burgettstown, survives. Funeral services will be held at the Weigman Funeral Home at Avella this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. The body will be then taken to the Eldersville M P Church where services will be held at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Eldersville Cemetery,.
