In part it reads " On the 18th day of November, 1816, a special court was held, with Cyrus Douglass first associate, and John Ketchum second associate judges. Cyrus Douglass (b. February 6, 1774, New Milford, Connecticut) was a judge in Jackson Co. August 1816 to February 1817"

From a letter written in 1966 by gladys richrds cornwell to brownstown chamber of commerce: Walter Benton was an earlly post master and Methodist preacher in brownstown was a close friend of cyrus douglas and samuel whedon. they all came from near geneva NY. I was told by my grandfather that "Cyrus Douglas and Samuel Whedon organized a company from around Geneva NY to come into the Ohio Valley. That Cyrus Douglas was called the Path Master.
