2 of his daughters appears to have named thier children Benjamin and Eliza. These where popular at the time. However might sugest a maternal family name.

Served in the Mexican War of 1812.

Joseph and wife Hannah are listed as paritioners in, The Belcoda Church Located in the hamlet of Belcoda in the Town of Wheatland, Monroe Co., New York.

Joseph and Hannah settled in Genessee Co., NY, then moved to Cayuga Co. After her husband died in Canada, Hannah moved to Illinois and died in Winnebago Co.

The Niswender ancestry says he served in the War of 1812. This has not been confirmed.
