About DAVID SHULMAN

According to Morris Benjamin's autobiography, "David Shulman was a fine, ambitious man who came to this country from the City of Kiev, Ukraine. He was working for the Root & McBride Co., jobbers of dry goods, and manufacturers of men's shirts, under Mr. Canton, who had charge of the manufacturing. My new brother-in-law was anxious to show me how a large factory of that size is operated in order that I might get an idea of the more modern methods of running a factory in comparison to the one operated by my brother, Benny." pp. 7-8

David Shulman appears in"The Blue Book" Textile Directory of the United States and Canada, of 1910-11, p. 868, under Dry Good Jobbers, with the Waddell Co. in Cleveland, OH. The asterist next to his name indicates that he handled Hosiery and Knit Goods (see p. 851)

Death certificate lists birth location as Berdichev, Russia

At David's funeral, two rabbis, his nephews officiated: Charles E Shulman of the North Shore Congregation in Chicago, and Albert M. Shulman of Temple Beth El in South Bend, Indiana.

Pallbearers included: nephews Samuel, David, Irwin, Willard, Walter and Sanford Benjamin, as well as Ben Saul, Nathan and Edward Shulman.

I have found a headstone for Isidore Shulman, who *may or may not* be David and Anna's child. The Hebrew name given is Eyzer (or Oyzer, depending on the accent) or Ozer son of Shmuel Tebl. or Tevel. I haven't found any information about David's Hebrew name.
