Three hours later, the body of Roelof Henry Gottschalk (34), was found about 300m from Van der Berg's body. He is believed to have been strangled with a piece of cloth.
Post-mortems were conducted on both men on Tuesday. Initial findings indicate they had been dead for between three to five days before their bodies were found.
