Woodland Democrat 23 Feb 1933: Antonio Moreno's Wife Killed in Accident. Hollywood- Mrs. Antonio Moreno, wife of the former screen idol, was killed early today when her auto mobile went over a cliff on Mulholland Drive. Rene H. Daisy and Antonio resided at 1975 DeMille Drive in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles - the home sold for $1.6 million in 1996. Daisy had the home built in the early 1920's - it had 15,000 square feet and had its own ballroom. Daisy was an oil heiress and the couple were estranged when Daisy died.

Daisy was married before Moreno to Jay Morris Danziger, who was an attorney and vice president of the Mexican Petroleum Company. They were married in 1901 in Salt Lake City, Utah and divorced in 1923.

-------------------------------------

Daisy Canfield Danziger and Antonio Moreno resided in the Canfield-Moreno Estate at 1923 Micheltorena St., in the Silver Lake District of Los Angeles, California. The estate was named Paramour. In the 1920's and early 1930's many lavish parties were held there with rich and influential people and celebrities of the time. On February 23, 1933, Daisy Canfield was returning from a party and died when her car plunged off Mulholland Drive. Since then, the 22-room estate has seen many incarnations, including the Chloe P. Canfield School for Girls (named for Daisy's mother). In 1950, it became a convent for Franciscan nuns. In the 1970s the Franciscan nuns ran a home for girls at the estate. They sold the property in 1998 to a new owner who tried many times to obtain zoning variances from the city in order to commercialize the property. This resulted in bitter and lengthy battles with neighbors in this quiet, residential neighborhood.
