DAME KATHERINE CRAYKE
Dame Catherine Crayke is the daughter of John Crayke of Marton in County York, in the Kingdom of England, who was the eldest, but disinherited son of Ralph Crayke of Marton. She is reported to have been baptised at Bridlington in Yorkshire there on 3 January 1618-19. The Scots Peerage V: 173
Death
A date and place of death has not been identified for Dame Katherine Crayke. She was alive on 15 May 1646, NRS: GD8/731 but she probably died before 23 October 1655, the date upon which her sister, Everlid Crayke, gave up the Testament Dative and Inventory of her brother-in-law, James Lord Boyd. Her Husband's Testament Dative and Inventory
The Testament Dative and Inventory of the deceased James, Lord Boyd, was given up by Everild Creyk, who is identified as: "sister to dame Kathren Boyd and now the spous to Richard Mosgrave of Collinghame" who was the only executrix dative decerned by the Commissary Court of Edinburgh. Confirmation was granted to Everlid Creyk on 23 October 1655. Critical Comment
I had a nice little chat with a lady named Hazel. She had seen the picture I had added as Catherine's profile picture. In the picture Catherine was wearing a lovely orange dress with a fancy white ruffled collar. Her hair was reddish. Hazel sent me the following message; "I have had a professional picture historian look at the picture, and regrettably it cannot be Catherine as the picture has been dated to between 1566 and 1576 (Catherine was baptised 1618/19). I just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to add a comment yourself." So please don't re-add a picture that looks like what I described :-). Ann ©.
