About Dana Chandler Grossel
Dana Grossel
COTTAGE GROVE - A celebration of life will be held April 28 for Dana Grossel of Cottage Grove, who died April 12 of cancer. She was 52.
Grossel was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Hollywood, Calif., to Ira Grossel and Marjorie Hoshelle. Her father was also known as actor Jeff Chandler.
She graduated from Beverly Hills High School. She moved to Cottage Grove in 1979. Grossel received a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Oregon.
As a young woman, she traveled and studied art in Europe and Central America. She created art all of her life, including graphic design, portraits, abstracts, landscapes and ceramics. For the past 15 years, Grossel enjoyed teaching art to young people through the Maude Kerns Art Center and the Lane Regional Arts Council. She played original music on the flute and performed at the Cottage Grove Poetry and Music Jam. Her interests also included gardening, music and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her life partner of 12 years, Wayne Drury; two sons, Pierre Machon and Uriel Grossel, both of Cottage Grove; and a sister, Jamie Tucker of San Diego.
Sunday's celebration will be held at 3 p.m. at the Cottage Grove Community Center. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Grossel Memorial Fund in care of the Lane Arts Council or in her name to support the arts at the Cottage Grove Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1326, Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
