Daniel Stanard Altman was a commissary sergeant of company E of the 206th PA regiment. He also served as Burgess of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
The son of Captain Henry Altman and the brother of Major William P. Altman of Vandergrift. He came to Punxsutawney in 1860. He was married to Emma Bair Altman. They were the parents of one daughter,Laura,who married H. R. King, a Contractor on North Gilpin Street in Punxsutawney.
Burial was made at the Circle Hill Cemetery on Friday,29 January 1897
