About Daniel Alvin Anderson
Daniel was an excellent athlete who played football and track for four years at Chippewa Falls High School and was a member of the track and ski teams at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He also served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Division during World War One.
Daniel farmed and made maple sugar for 40 years near Ruby, Wisconsin and was selected as one of 10 Master Farmers in the state in 1931 by the Wisconsin Agriculturists. He worked for the University of Wisconsin Extension division for 14 years as a county agent at large.
As an active citizen, Daniel was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Cornell, the Eau Claire Consistory, the Tripoli of Milwaukee, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the American Legion of Holcombe, the Knights of Pythias and the Chippewa Falls World War One Barracks. He had been a Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, Chapter 272, and was president of the Production Credit Association of Chippewa Falls since it was organized in 1934. He also served on the Chippewa County Board and was chairman of the Holcombe Town Board.
During his later years, Daniel and Gunda lived at their home, Pine Tree Place (resort) on Lake Holcombe. Daniel was a member of the Holcombe United Methodist Church.
