About Daniel Irving Boone

Married and settled in St. Antone, Texas. He received one of the first grants given to an American in Texas. One of his descendants attended the Boone Family Association of Washington meetings in July of 1971. Daniel was killed by Indians.

Daniel BOONE, son of Jonathan who settled on Green River, then at the Big Falls of the Wabash, near Mt. Carmel, Wabash county, on the IL side, where he built a mill. His son Daniel settled "in the lower country." Another note says that he settled at St. Antoine, TX, and was killed there by Indians. (Reference: Draper Mss. 19 C 120-154.)

Also: Daniel BOONE, 26 years old of North Carolina, son of Jonathon of North Carolina, Church of England & Marie CARTER of Pennsylvania, and now they live in Kentucky in Waren [sic] County. Marriage investigation regarding the freedom to marry dated 12 Aug 1800, with Marie Rose BENOIT of Mariland [sic], widow of Marin PREJEAN, daughter of Olivier & Susanne BOUDRAUD of Acadia. Assistant witnesses: Louis CHEMIN; Pierre Marin LENORMAND. Witnesses: Antoine DRONET of France; Frederick TENHOLD of Holland. Recorded by Fr. Michel Bernard BARRIERE at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, LA (SM Ch.: Marriage Investigation: Folio D, #26). Also: Daniel BOON, born in North Carolina, an Anglican, son of Johnaton [sic] BOON & Marie CARTER, married 12 Aug 1800 to Marie Rose BENOIT, widow of Marin PREJEAN, daughter of deceased Olivier & Suzanne BOUDRAUD of Acadie. Recorded in St. Peter Catholic Church, New Iberia, LA (NI Ch.: OA-#5). Note says not entered in St. Martin of Tours Church registers. Witnesses: Andre' PHAVRON; Baptiste LAVERGNE; Joseph LEJEUNE. Recorded by Fr. Louis BUHOT at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, LA (Opel.Ch.: v.1-A, p. 100).
