On 22 September 1831, Daniel Whitener wrote his will for he knew "that it is appointed for all men to die". Daniel D. Whitener administered the will of his father, and Daniel D. Whitener received from him the long rifle, bought by Heinrich Weidner and carried by Daniel Whitener at The Battle of Kings Mountain.
