DANIEL3 GATES (Daniel2, George1)), born February 5, 1706/7 in East Haddam, CT, baptized March 30, 1707, married LYDIA FULLER, born September 1, 1709, daughter of Shubel and Hannah (Crocker) Fuller. Both of Lydia Fuller’s parents were Mayflower descendants. Shubel4 Fuller’s line was John3 Fuller, Samuel2 Fuller, Edward1 Fuller of the Mayflower. Her mother, Hannah6 Crocker, was the daughter of Jonathan5 Crocker whose line was John4 Crocker, William3 Crocker, Hannah2 Howland, Lieut. John1 Howland and Elizabeth1 Tilley, both of whom came in the Mayflower.
Daniel Gates was a tanner and was admitted to full communion in the First Church of East Haddam, May 5, 1723. He became a deacon of the church and he and his cousin Daniel Gates, son of Thomas and Hannah (Brainerd) Gates, were selectmen of East Haddam in 1739. He died, October 5, 1775, and his widow died, August 14, 1778.
