Daniel Hough was the 2nd son of Capt. David Hough, born 1.23.1752 in Bozrah, CT. He came to Lebanon before the Revolutionary War. 12.12.1780 he married Lydia Edgerton of Norwich, CT. Mr. Hough purchased land in the town-farm district; by the old burying ground. His house was a little higher up Daisy Hill; the same farm owned by the Clark's. Daniel Hough died 9.11.1820 @68yrs. His wife, Lydia; then lived with her son, Clark Hough. She died 3.12.1846 @81yrs. From the "Granite Monthly New Hampshire Magazine", VOL. II, Mar & Apr 1889. Daniel Hough & Lydia (Edgerton) children: 4th son: Col. Clark Hough b. 6.14.1792

eldest son: Wade, b. 10.3.1781. He was a clerk at Duncan's store where he remained until it closed in 1805. He taught school occasionally. He left Lebanon, went to Boston; and finally settled in NY where he was engaged in trade. He married: 5.22.1815 Jane Plummer of Charleston, SC. He died in Brooklyn, NY 3.4.1868 @86yrs. His wife died 11.8.1873 @81yrs. They had 6 children. The eldest, Daniel, b. 2.1816, went to CA.

eldest daughter: Philura b. 2.10.1783 d. 1813. She married Edward Freeman, son of Hon. Jonathan Freeman of Hanover, NH. Her husband, Edward Freeman remarried: Elizabeth Duncan, Meriden, NH.

Richard H. b. 5.2.1784, and married: 5.12.1812 Sarah Squires of Fairfield, CT. He first went to NY where he was in business with his brother, Wade. He then became engaged in Southern Trade - bought and sold mules and other property. While on a trip to New Orleans, he was taken sick and died there 4.3.1843 @59yrs. He had five children: Mary M., two Richards, Elizabeth & Sarah.

Daniel, Jr. b. 12.19.1787. Daniel graduated from Dartmouth College in 1812; then studied law in Keene, NH. He went west to find business; found a wife in Kentucky, and finally settled in St. Louis, Missouri where he died. Their children: Henry W., Sally and Helen died young, and Josephine (who probably lived in St. Louis).

Sally, b. 3.2.1790 d. @11yrs. -- Cole Cemetery.

Asa E., b. 5.9.1794. In 1817, Asa formed a co-partnership with John Baxter, under the name: Baxter & Hough. After less than 1 year, Mr. Baxter died and the business closed. He then reopened the business with Timothy Kendrick. After a few years, the business dissolved and Asa went west. He died in Potosi, Wisconsin on 3.20.1846. He had children.

Lydia E. b. 10.5.1796; married: 1.8.1823 Abner Allen, eldest son of Diarca Allen. Abner died 11.25.1864. Lydia, being left a widow with most of her family femily living far away, she lived with her daughter Susan Ann, who was married to Rev. Joshua Blaisdell of Beloit, Wisconsin (son of Elijah Blaisdell).

Polly b. 1800. Married: Ammi Young (son of Capt. Samuel Young. Ammi was a celebrated architect. Polly died 1823. They had 1 daughter Helen, who married Samuel R. Reed in Toledo, OH. Ammi Young died in Washington, DC in March, 1874,
