SKULL IS CRUSHED IN FALL

Daniel Hunsberger Instantly Killed Tuesday Morning

Working as a Carpenter When Joist Gives Away –Skull Fractured in Twelve Foot Drop.

Daniel Hunsberger, aged about 70, who lived on the Burket farm, near Wakarusa, was instantly killed Tuesday morning in a twelve foot fall on the Jacob Zehner farm, where he was working. The Zahner farm is about two miles from the Burket place.

Hunsberger was standing in the hay mow of the Zahner barn, pushing out upon a perpendicular joist, when the joist gave away and he pitched downward, stalking on the roof of a chicken coop, six feet below, from where he fell six feet more to the ground. His head struck on a sill and the skull was fractured.

Otto Zahner, who had been working nearby on a ladder, and who was the first to reach the prostrate man, discovered that Hunsberger was dead. A physician was called from Wakarusa and he summoned Coroner Mast of Elkhart. The coroner's verdict was that death was due to a fracture of the skull.

The deceased is survived by three sons, two of whom live near Wakarusa, while the third lives in Michigan. Mr. Hunsberger was a widower and had been living with the Burket's for about twelve years.
