Daniel first married Maria Forrer, daughter of Rudolph Forrer of Ibersheim in March 1754. He married secondly Elisabeth Hiestand, daughter of Christian Hiestand. Daniel was called a widower at the time of his marriage to Elisabeth. On 18 Mar 1754 it was reported that Abraham Brubacher's widow found a potential buyer, namely Daniel Stauffer of Alsheim, whom she wants to sell her 1/24 share of the Ibersheimerhof for the sum of 3000 guilder and 1/32 share of the "Rosengarten" for 385 guilder. In another document dated 27 Mar1754 it referred to the 18 Mar 1754 document and it stated that Daniel Stauffer was the son-in-law to be of Rudolf Fohrer. He was a Mennonite living at Ibersheim in 1759 as Daniel Stauffer "the younger" with three children. He lived at Ibersheim in 1768 as Daniel Stauffer Jr. In 1766 he signed a document for his children of his first marriage, concerning the inheritance of his second wife. On 1 Feb 1768 he was listed as Daniel Stauffer the younger, a leaseholder at Ibersheim with his wife Elisabeth and 5 heirs. He apparently had 3 children by his first wife and two children by his second wife by 1 Feb 1768 and then 3 more after 1768 by his second wife. In 1772 he was called Daniel Stauffer Senior when he was a leaseholder at Ibersheim. On 10 July 1784 he was in full possession his farm and had seven children. His widow was listed at Ibersheim as a tenant in 1789 in a list of damage caused by rain and hail. Elisabeth, his widow, was in possession of the farm in Ibersheim in 1792 with her five children.
