About Dariusz Bagnicki
He was a journalist--who specialised in 'eastern matters' which probably means 'the Balkans and Turkey --the Ottoman Empire then. He lived most of his life... outside of Poland. He seems to have spent a good deal of time in Paris and London. According to Cezaria's note on the back of one of the photos, his articles appeared in The Times of London and Le Figaro. Aunt Ewelina's notes claim he had a tendency to marry French women--one named Lilly and another named Zelia (Esfock? --I cannot read the writing). You will notice that one of the photos of Dariusz (the one with a lady--presumably one of his wives) was taken by a Prisian photographer "Julius" 26 Rue Vivienne Paris. I wonder if you could find out something about him? He wrote his articles under a non-de-plume--I would guess in the 1890's. I like to think there were adventurous people in our family. The picture of him at his youngest age has the inscription 'To Dad ' (that would have been his father Romuald Bagnicki) Belgrade. Aunt Ewelina indicates he was 25 yrs old the first photo was taken.
