Funeral services for Darrel Carstens, age 70, of Meadow Grove, were held Friday, December 2, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden. The Rev. Rodger Good officiated with burial in the Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce.

Visitation was Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.

Mr. Carstens died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Darrel Carstens Darrel Carstens, son of Henry and Antonia (Synovec) Carstens was born January 18, 1935 near Pierce, Ne. He attended Pierce Schools. On April 27, 1957 he was married to Jean Alyea. They later divorced. He was employed at Turiks Garage in Pierce, Scott Farm Equipment in Meadow Grove, and Ikes Repair in Battle Creek, NE before owning and operating his own tractor repair shop, Darrels Repair in Meadow Grove. He died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk at the age of 70. Survivors include a special son, Rick Smutny and his wife Sonet of Meadow Grove and a special daughter, Tonya Smutny Wilhelm and her husband Mike, of Elmwood, NE; 5 grandchildren; a sister, Anita Johnson of Madison, NE; 2 brothers, Robert of Madison and Don of Marion Iowa; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
