(John 9 likely to be my gr grandfather, John Doig Anderson - as his birthdate is 1851; and he married a Hulley girl. One of the Dugmore daughters married a Hulley as well. Also the name Isabella is carried down John’s line. [Sharon Doubell 2014]) (David's place of birth and death surmised from the info I have for my gr grandfather John.)

Both options presume that he was born in the same town he got married in.

This MH result from the LDS: https://www.myheritage.com/research/collection-40001/familysearch-f... places the birthdate as 09 Jan 1821 (ie the first David Anderson above), although it gives the marriage (dated 25/8/1844 as above) as taking place at Cluny, Perth, Scotland, not Mains And Strathmartine, Angus, Scotland (as above). Perth is not in Angus, although it is quite close outside it to the South.
