About David Charles Harford
Alamogordo, NM - David Harford of Alamogordo, NM, formally of Port Jervis, left us suddenly and much too soon, on July 22, 2014 at El Paso, TX. He was 64 years old.
The son of Charles “Chuck” Harford and Gladys Hulse Harford, David was born on April 14, 1950 in Port Jervis, NY.
David was a 1968 graduate of Port Jervis High School. He was a musician, most fondly known for being a founding member of the Big Edsel Band and Motor City. He was also a talented craftsman, carpenter, artist, writer and house renovator.
A family statement reads: “David was a bright, witty, charming person. He loved his family and friends, and he loved learning. He enjoyed cooking and baking for people, lively conversation, debates and political discussions. He was a student of history, science, philosophy, biblical and religious history, and an avid reader. He was kind and sympathetic, and had a soft spot for all animals, especially dogs. He was very fond of his Doberman Pinschers, and also his rescued Chinook Dog and Papillon mix puppy. He dreamed of being able to participate more actively in dog rescue and rehabilitation. He was dearly loved by his family, cherished and respected by his friends and colleagues, and will be missed immeasurably.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, also of Alamogordo, NM; his son, Jonathan and daughter-in-law, Paige of Escondido, CA, and his son, Joshua of Dexter, ME.
He will be cremated by San Jose Funeral Home of El Paso, TX.
In lieu of flowers, we would be honored if donations were made to Port Jervis Humane Society in David’s memory. Port Jervis Humane Society, 202 US 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 .
