FATAL ACCIDENT.
The broad stretch of the Limerick Road,at Ashgrove, half a mile above the Beecher Street Railway Bridge,
was the scene of a shocking and fatal accident on Monday evening (13/08/1956).
A lorry belonging to the Kantoher creamery was bringing
three large tanks of milk to the Mallow Chocolate factory, when the front left tire burst and the vehicle ran off the road into the dyke.

A forty-years-old farmer, David Dwane, of Lisballyhea, Charleville. who was travelling in the back of the lorry,
was crushed to death when one of the big tanks shifted
and caught him between the tank and the protective barrier at the back of the cab.
Civic Guard Sergeants Daniel Aherne and Peter Curley with Civic Guard Michael Quaid of Mallow were quickly on the scene as was Civic Guard Scanlon.
