David Fox 1738 David Fox and his family resided firstly in Tinicum Twp Bucks County Pa. Here he bought 204 a at a sheriffs sale sometime prior to 1773. In the latter years he sold 90 1/2a to Daniel and John Kelly. 10 a to Robert Stewart and the remainder to Jacob George. Shortly afterwards David and his family removed to Chatham County North Carolina. His first purchase of land being made there in 1775. David and his family appear in the 1790 1800 and 1810 censuses of Chatham County.By 1810 all of his girls had married and left home, two sons remained.. It has been reported that David Fox's home place in Chatham County was on the South Fork of Rocky River near what is now the head of Albright'sMill Pond. a 300 acre tract on the waters of Rocky River purchased on 9 Aug 1775 was the first land owned by David Fox in North Carolina. It was purchased from Leonard Mirer and wife Mary Magdalena of Guildford County and the deed was witnessed by Henry Linderman and henrich Conterman. Since the tract was recorded in Guildford County it apparently was near or partly in that county in 1775. Other tracts purchased by David Fox in Chatham County included. (1) 8 Dec 1779 150 a on South Fork of rocky river from Moses Teague. (2) 13 Jan 1780 33 3/4 a near his own land and that of Nicholas Fox on Rocky River from Jacob Lineberger and wife Catherine. On 9 Apr 1785 David Fox planter of Chatham County sold 150 a on South Fork of Rocky River to Philip siler, sadler. It was part of a tract granted originally on 13 June 1762 to Henry Bray and is apparently one of the land purchases above.. David outlived his wife Margaretha by 6 1/2 years he dying in 1823 and she in 1817. They were active members of the Richland Lutheran Church after removing to Chatham County. David was often listed as Deobald or Theobald at richland Church as he had been at Christ Lutheran Church back in Bucks County in earlier years. David died interstate and an estatesale of his personal property was held 11 Dec 1823. Inculded in the sale were five negro slaves inculding Solomon sold to leonard Fox Sr. Ephram sold to Nicholas, Cisar sold to Leonard Fox, and Peter sold to Barney Fox Sr. On 3 Mar 1824 the heirs of David jointly sold the folling tracts.. (1) 143 a on South Fork of Rocky River by Nicholas Fox's land and Teague's branch this tract had originally been part of the estate of David's brother Nicholas ans inherited by the latter's son David Fox Jr..
