About Jacob Fuchs
Eva Catherina was born in Germany (Pfaffenhoffen Hanau-Lichtenberg, now it is Bas-Rhin France) May 16, 1726. She was the daughter of Friederich Reiss and Catherina Burweiler, and the Grandaughter of Andreas Reiss and Eva Eichman. Jacob Fuchs and Eva Catherina were married in 1756 in Old Goschenhoppen, Montgomery Co. PA

The children of Jacob and Eva Catharina, as I reconstruct the family, are:
- a. FUCHS or FOX Jacob -- Jacob Foxx Jr appears on militia and tax lists in CV Twp and is presumably a son of this couple
- b. FUCHS or FOX Frederick -- also appears on militia and tax lists in CV, and seems certain to be the same one who was in Monongalia Co by the very early 1800s. Later to IN or OH? He vanishes from here, at least
- c. FUCHS or FOX Michael -- also appears on militia and tax lists in CV, and seems certain to be the same one who was in Monongalia by abt 1799. Also vanishes from here. (In these 3 we have perpetuated the names of the husband and of both fathers.)
- d. FUCHS or FOX Anna, b 1766, bp 1767 at Frederick Lutheran Ch, Frederick MD (Andreas Reiss and Anna, sponsors). Most likely the wife of Caspar Michael, who is said in family lore to be Hannah FOX and who is about this age.
- e. FUCHS or FOX Barbara (?), born abt 1760/65, and probably the wife of DUCHMANN Johann Michael (1760-aft 1830). The evidence on this is completely circumstantial and is hard to defend except that my instinct tells me this is right. I can't even prove the given name of "Old" Michael's wife. In 1807 a John TOOTHMAN, who is certainly Michael's oldest son, married Mary FOX, daughter of Frederick, here in Monongalia; she was probably his first cousin.
- f. FUCHS or FOX Elisabeth (?), born abt 1757? This one is just a wild stab. An Elisabeth __, about this age, was apparently the first wife of DUCHMANN Johann Diederich (c1750/51-1825), my ancestor, and it seems likely she was from one of these Reiss-connected families. But I can't prove either of Diederich's wives. (The second, from whom I descend, is Barbara __, c1765/70-aft 1840, and the clues suggest she is the daughter of Andrew Rice Sr.)
