About David Grant of Limepots

DAVID GRANT OF LIMEPOTS

Bogus Genealogy

It has been claimed that David Grant of Limepots, here treated, who married Janet Lamb in 1711, is that son of Ludovic Grant of that Ilk and his wife Janet Brody who was born in Edinburgh on 14 January 1693. Find A Grave Memorial [See also the below mentioned biography proposed for Janet Lamb] However, evidence that connects Ludovick Grant's child with the man who married Janet Lamb is not cited and none has been found

It has also been claimed that Janet Lamb's husband died at Edinburgh in Midlothian on 18 January 1750. However, the death recorded at Edinburgh on that date actually belongs to a man who was a "founder from Portsburgh" and not to the heritable proprietor of the Limepots estate in the Perthshire parish of Scone. Image of Death Record Moreover, neither Janet Lamb or the Limepots estate are mentioned in this death record and, consequently, the link proposed should be disregarded.
