David's first memories involve living on a farm near Alexandria, Indiana. He was an excellent student. He loved singing and learned to play the trombone. After graduation from Alexandria, he attended Butler in Indianapolis and eventually earned his degree in accounting. He served in WW2 and was in England, France, Germany and then Checzoslovakia. After returning to the US, he returned to accounting, and also became a lay minister with the Church of God. He spent six years in New Mexico and Arizona on Navajo mission stations, learning about the culture and serving in usually support roles for the missions. He returned to accounting in Indianapolis in 1967. In the 1990s he and his wife moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma to live in retiree apartments owned by the Church of God in Shawnee. He passed away in 2006.
