David was one of the founders of the Macon County Mutual Fire Insurance company. He first owned a bank at Macon,Illinois, which seems to have been from the autumn of 1888-1890. In March, 1895, he moved to Moweaqua and formed a banking partnership there under the firm name of Keller, Ayres & Co. At Moweaqua he was president of the Board of Education and was always the friend of our public schools and their teachers.
In the fall of 1888 and 1890 he was elected Representative to the 36th and 37th General Assemblies of Illinois as a Republican. He rendered distinquished service while serving as a representative. In 1892 the three Keller brothers David, Emanuel and Augustus were delegates to the national Republican convention at Minneapolis.
