David Knight of Rockingham Co., NC and Grayson Counties, Virginia lived in Orange County, North Carolina from 1755 until his death between 1775 and 1781.
From http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/orange/tax/noa0006.txt: ORANGE CO, NC Tythables - 1755: David Knight 1 white
In 1763 Middleton Brashears vs. David Knight was on the court docket in Orange Co., NC. Richard Knight also appears in the minutes.
David Knight was on a list of debtors of Col. John McGee on 13 DEC 1773 in Orange Co., NC.
One of David's sons (Absalom) served in the Rev. War and later told the story of living with his Uncle James Knight in SC after his father died. Absalom served in the Rev. War, and, to get a pension, he had to tell the story of his enlistment and the battles in which he fought. Much family information was gained from his story. Absalom lived in NC for 21 years after his Rev. service. He then moved with his family and a brother to Kentucky, then on to Tennessee.
