David Maple served in the 3rd Regiment of Middlesex County, New Jersey Militia in the Revolutionary War.
David helped to administer the estate of his father, Benjamin Maple Jr (1696-1777), after his death.
David lived in Middlesex County, New Jersey at least through 1782. In 1779 and 1780 he was taxed on 60 acres in New Windsor Township. During the period May 1780 - July 1782 he was on the tax rolls for South Brunswick Township.
In the 1790 and 1800 US Censuses, David's family was enumerated in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. David owned 133 acres on Harper's Run in Dunbar Township (part of Franklin Township in 1790).
On 3 October 1805 David entered 160 acres in Springfield Township, Jefferson County, Ohio, and he sold his land in Pennsylvania on 13 September 1807.
We have no more records for David after 1807. We know that his family lived on the 160 acre tract in Springfield Township for some time, but payment for the land was never completed, and it was patented by John Montgomery in 1811. It is quite possible that David died in Springfield Township some time before 1811.
