David Monro, who, born in 1640, entered the army, and was Captain of a regiment of horse raised by the Earl of Rothes, in which he served for some time in Ireland, where he was killed at the battle of the Boyne in 1690. He married Mary, daughter of Sir John Davis of Whitehall, near Carrickfergus, son of Sir John Davis, Royalist Lord Chancellor of Ireland during the reigns of James VI. and Charles I., by his wife Lady Eleanor, daughter of the Earl of Castlehaven and Baron Audley, with issue —
On his death in 1690, Captain David was succeeded by his eldest son."
