Served in the Territorial Army (Militia) with the Gordon Highlanders with a service number of 467. When the war broke out, he tried to enlist in the regular army but after 4 months he was medically discharged with vision problems.
He was described as being 5'5" weighing 145 pounds with Brown hair and brown eyes
David arrived in Canada in 1910(Apr) along with his brothers George and Charles. The ship was the Pretorian and they arrived in Halifax.
While his cause of death is attributed to cancer of the tranverse colon, he also suffered from Black Lung - a common ailment amongst coal miners.
