David Ogden is a part of New Jersey history. He is part of the New Jersey Project at Wikitree
David was the son of John and Jane (Bond) Ogden, born 9 Nov. 1642 in Stamford, Connecticut (where family resided at the time).[1] The birth date is based on an entry in an Ogden family Bible. It read: "Nov. 9 1642, my son [name unreadable] was born by God's providence."[2] The son is inferred to be David by process of elimination. See Research Note for John Sr.
David Ogden moved from Elizabethtown to Newark in 1676, where he is described as a "stone church builder." Elizabeth Swaine, wife of David Ogden, was first married to her cousin Josiah Ward. At the time that the Bradford colonists came to Newark she is said to have been the first to land. [3]
Will
The will of David Ogden "of Newark in the Province of East Jersey," dated December 26, 1691, was proved before Justices Ward and Johnson, February 27, 1691-2, by the oath of Samuell Harrison. "Mr Patrick ffalconar being deceased."[4]
