About David Pierson

David Pierson was the son of Col. Henry Pierson, and born in 1688. His homestead was on the west side of Sagg street. His son, Lemuel Pierson, sold it to Deacon David Hedges, who lived and died there in 1817. His grandson, Jeremiah O. Hedges, sold it to Capt. Josiah Foster, and it is now owned by his heirs. The old house of Deacon Hedges was burned in 1875. (Paul Calhoun)

Is anyone researching David Pierson (1688-1767) of Sagaponack/Southampton, NY or wife Elizabeth White? I just came across an entry in "Vital Records of Weymouth Massachusetts to the Year 1850, Volume II - Marriages and Deaths" (1910) [digitized by google] that has the following entry on page 139: "Pierson, David of South Hampton, L.I., and Elizabeath Whit, int. Sept. 9, 1721". I'm assuming this is David Pierson (1688-1767), son of Col. Henry Pierson. I hadn't seen anything about Elizabeth White being from Weymouth, Mass or the date of their marriage, so I thought this might be of interest to some of you if its new information.
I believe Elizabeth (White) Pierson is buried at the River View Cemetery in East Haddam, Connecticut (where the family had presumably evacuated to during the British occupation of L.I. during the Revolution). The tombstone in East Haddam reads Elisabeth Peirson, d. Jan. 1, 1777, "wife of David Peirson, Esq. of Long Island in the 90th year of her age".
If Elizabeth White and David Pierson married in 1721, I'm not sure that makes Elizabeth the mother of any of the known children of David. From what I understand most of David's children are listed as being born prior to 1721. Mary Pierson (wife of Maltby Gelston) was born right around that time, so I'm not sure if perhaps Mary's mother died giving birth to Mary, or if Elizabeth White conceived Mary prior to wedlock. Mary's 1785 tombstone, also in River View Cemetery, East Haddam, CT reads, Mary Gelston d. Feb. 28, 1785 "wife of Deacon Maltby Gelston of Long Island in the 64th year of her age" - which would put her birth right around 1721.
Pierson Millennium, page 158 notes "David mar. 1st Esther Conkling and 2d Elizabeth Conkling in 1712/1713." On page 317 of James Truslow Adams' "Memorials of Old Bridgehampton" there's a record of Esther's Sagg Cemetery tombstone inscription "Here lyeth the body of Esther Peirson wife of Mr. David Peirson who dyed November the 22 Anno 1711 in the 27 Year of her age."
Did David have another wife between Esther Conkling and Elizabeth White, who would have been the mother of Lemuel (born around 1717), David (born around 1718), John (born around 1719) and perhaps Mary (born around 1720/21)? Is Pierson Millenium correct about an Elizabeth Conkling being his second wife?, making Elizabeth White his third wife? I haven't come across a grave record for a second wife, but then I haven't come across David's 1767 tombstone either - does anyone know where he's buried?
