Ref: "The Lineage of the Boone Co., Missouri Stidham Family,"Jacob H. Stidham. Note: Res: 1814, Virginia (Blackwood); lived on Cane Patch Creek, a tributary of the Powell River (Lee Co., now Wise Co.). Note: Although David died in Wise Co., Virginia (formed in 1856), he probably had never moved from the original home place along the Powell River Vally a few miles down river from Norton, Virginia. His log house was located on Rt. 23 leading from Norton to Appalachia and opposite the Blackwood Coal Co. He was living there in 1817 when he and William Wells and Beals Davis asked that the line of Scott County be relocated so as to leave them in Lee County.
