David was married to Elizabeth, possibly Elizabeth Hunt, a Cherokee.They had children Solomon 1776GA-1850Louisiana(who married Sarah Roberts) and Robert Sr 1774-1856LA (who m Eliz. Roberts - they lived for a while in Pike County MS).Other children have been variously listed: probable are Mourning 1771-1852, Thomas 1776-1850, and Jephtha P. 1772-1848; less likely are Polly, Valisity, and Flora.

John Strickland Jr (c1749NC-1838GA), who lived around Robeson County NC, was married to a Lumbee Indian named Appa. Other Stricklands also married Lumbee, specifically the Martin family of the Lumbee. All the descendants of Silas Strickland are part Lumbee; look for Lumbee surnames Locklear and Oxendine. The Lumbee tribe was, for a long time, considered part of the Cherokee; but the Lumbee have obtained recognition as a separate tribe. There is another branch of the Stricklands that was living among the Cherokee in north GA around 1819, and presumably intermarrying with them; cf David Strickland c1735-1804, Simon and Sion Strickland chased out of Indian Lands 1819.
