REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERAN: Merchant and Property holder of New York City prior to, during, and after the occupation of NYC by the British during the American revolutionary war. Passed nearly his whole life at the family property on 'Fair Street' - now Fulton Street.

Company Captain, and quartermaster, 2nd New York City Militia, 1775-76; later, inducted into the Continental Army and served as Assistant Quartermaster General under QM General Timothy Pickering through the end of the war and the establishment of the 'American Regiment in 1784. Commended by his superior officer, Timothy Pickering, for the correctness and clearness of his accounts; thenceforth serving in the administration of NYC through the 1790's while also engaged at his own hardware business - Retired from that business about 1816.
