About David de Villiers

David de Villiers (a1b10c5) boer op die plaas Bien Donnè en De Uyleskraal.

sic: "Geslagsregisters van Vroeë Kaapse Families"

David was the fifth child of Jean and Elizabeth de Villiers and he was born at Boschendal, district of Franschhoek, South Africa, on 24 September 1774. He aquired the farm Bien Donné, district Franschhoek and married Johanna de Villiers whose grandparents were the Huguenots Pierre de Villiers and Elizabeth Taillefert. This Pierre was the brother of David's grandfather the Huguenot Jacques de Villiers. The Huguenot surname Taillefert died out in South Africa since the Taillefert family produced no sons after the second generation in South Africa. To retain the name, since we are forever linked to the Taillefert family through David's wife, I named my daughter for Jacques de Villiers' wife Marguerite, and for David's wife, née Taillefert, namely Marguerite Taillefert de Villiers [born 14 January 1970]. The Huguenot Isaac Taillefert's farm, Laborie, can be reached if you turn up in Taillefert Avenue from the main road in Paarl, South Africa.
