About Dayne Rufus Gooding, Sr.
Dayne R Gooding, 86, of Bowen died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the North Adams Home in Mendon.
Dayne was born Jan. 31, 1925, the son of Otto and Martha (Willard) Gooding on the family farm south of Bowen where he was raised. On Aug. 10, 1946, he was married to Wanda Sparrow in Quincy. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Dayne is survived by three daughters, Linda (Bud) Duniven of Quincy, Brenda (Virgil) Ohnemus of Fowler, and Teresa (Gene) Wood of Bowen; two sons, Mike (Jill) Gooding of LaPrairie and Larry (Pam) Gooding of Hamilton; one brother, Wayne (Wanda) Gooding of Bowen; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sons, Larry Leon in infancy, and Gary and Dayne Gooding, Jr; two grandsons; one sister and one brother.
He attended school at the Franklin school near Chatten. Dayne had worked at trucking, farming, the Chatten Elevator and construction until 1966 when he started his own business: Gooding carpenter, roofing and painting service, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Golden. He enjoyed playing euchre, bowling and his two cats, Tinker and Callie.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 26, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery near Big Neck.
Memorials may be directed to North Adams Home in Mendon.
Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
