About DeWitt Lowrey
DeWitt Lowrey, of Montgomery, AL , age 93, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015. He served in the U.S. Army as one of the original 'Band of Brothers' in the 101st Airborne Division during WWII. He was preceded in death by Barbara, his loving wife of over 50 years. For many years Dewitt and Barbara lived in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains where they enjoyed the woods and the Coosa River. He later moved to Wesley Gardens in Montgomery, AL where he spent ten years among friends. Most recently he moved to Birmingham to be closer to family and resided at Mt. Royal Towers. He is survived by his sister, Nanella Marsh, daughter Nancy Crumpton (Rusty) and son Cliff Lowrey (Mimi), three grandchildren, Shelley Crumpton, Kendall Clinton (Ramsey), Logan Gibbons (Codie) and three great-grandchildren (Taylor and Rhett Clinton and Beckham Gibbons). His family greatly appreciates the many individuals who provided him care, comfort and friendship. A service in his memory will be held at Leak-Memory in Montgomery, AL on Friday, July 10 at 3:30. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to AL Head Injury Foundation (3100 Lorna Road #200, Birmingham, AL 35216) or a Veteran's Non-Profit Organization of your choice.
