Samuel Churchill [1] Lived in a house in Plympton, a few rods east of the house in which Mica Bryant lived in 1826. He was a deacon of the Church in Plympton. He was a farmer.

Dea. Samuel Churchill of Plympton was the son of William Churchill and Lydia Bryant his wife. Said William Churchill was one the first settlers of Plympton, and resided on the spot where Seth Churchill now lives in Plympton. Said William was a son of Joseph Churchill of Plymouth, son of John Churchill of Plymouth.

Dea. Samuel Churchill married Joanna Bryant, a daughter of John Bryant, one of the first settlers of Plympton, and Sarah, his wife and sister of Captain George Bryant of Plympton. That is Joanna was a sister [-].

Dea. Samuel Churchill had no sons, but had three daughters, [-],

  1. Mercy, who was the first wife of David Darling.
  2. Mehitable, who had four husbands.
  3. Alice, who married Jesse Leach.

He married his second wife Mary Ellis, widow on 12 April 1748 in Plympton.[2]

Probate

His will was dated 17 April 1751 and proved on 6 May 1751 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Mary/Marcy, his grandsons, Samuel Darling, Joseph Darling (sons of his deceased daughter Mercy), his grandson James Morton, James Harlow, his daughters Alice Leach, and Mehitabel Harlow, Jesse Leach, and his present wife's daughter Marcy Ellis. His inventory was recorded in the town records (but not itemized) on 8 June 1751 in Plymouth.[4]

In 1752, the estate distribution was set out to Samuel Darling, Mehitabel Harlow, wife of James Harlow, Else Leach, wife of Isaac Leach, and the widow Marcy.[5]
