Deacon Jonathan Sanderson was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Oct. 28, 1673 (sic). He was the oldest son of Deacon Jonathan Sanderson Sr. and his wife Abiah Bartlett Sanderson of Cambridge, Ma. Jonathan Sanderson was one of eight siblings all born in Cambridge, Ma. In about 1689 Jonathan Jr. with his father Jonathan Sr. settled on property at "Piety Corner" a part of what used to be Watertown and was later set off as Waltham, Ma. Jonathan Sanderson Jr. had been given 40 acres, lot #18 by his father which was west of the brook and back of the Piety Corner Clubhouse. Jonathan was a member of the Precinct Committee, Precinct Treasure for three years and Selectman of Waltham in 1738. Jonathan and his brother John were named on April 2, 1728 as executors to their fathers, Jonathan Sr estate. Jonathan was elected Selectmen of Waltham in 1717, taking over the position that his father had held previously. Jonathan Sanderson Jr. married Abigail Fisk on July 14, 1699. She was the daughter of John Fisk and Sarah Wyeth. Jonathan and Abigail had the following children:

1- Jonathan born July 26, 1700; died Aug 2, 1790.

2- Abigail born Oct. 23 1702; married James Mellen of Framingham.

3- Margaret born Sept. 9, 1704; married Feb. 4, 1731 to Benjamin Whitney of Framingham.

4-Eunice born July 1, 1707; married Mar. 23, 1725 to Isaac Peirce.

5-Thomas born June 18,1710.

6-Nathaniel born May 30, 1713; married Oct. 4, 1739 to Mary Drury b. 1719 of Framingham, Ma. They then moved to Petersham, Ma and had the following nine children: Jonathan 1740, Mary, Joshua 1749-1757, Moses 1757-1818, Joel 1745-1774, Nathaniel 1763, Eunice 1747, Lois 1754-1808, Susanna 1752-1755.

7-David born June 4, 1715; married Aug. 11, 1743 to Abigail Jones b. 1718 of Weston, Ma. and moved to Petersham, Ma. and had the following eight children: Abigail 1745-1748, Sarah 1747, Abigail 1749-1756,
Ebenezer 1752-1800, David 1754-1805, Lucy 1756, Lydia 1756, Elizabeth 1759-1839

Jonathan sold his farm to his son Thomas in 1737. Jonathan Sanderson died in Waltham, Ma on Oct. 6, 1743 he his buried in the Sanderson family plot next to his wife and his parents at Grove Hill Cemetery, also known as the old or lower graveyard at Waltham, Massachusetts.
