Joseph, son of John Fuller and Mehitable Rowley, was born March 1, 1700 at East Haddam, Connecticut. Joseph died at Kent, Connecticut on July 19, 1775 at the age of 75. He had 6 brothers and 5 sisters. All but one of his older siblings were born in Barnstable and the rest were born in East Haddam.[1]

Joseph and his brother, Benjamin, were baptized July 30, 1704 at East Haddam First Congregational Church. There their brother, John was baptized 2 months earlier in May. [2]

Joseph Fuller married first Lydia Day of Hartford, Connecticut on December 22, 1722. Lydia was the daughter of John Day and Grace Spencer who had removed from Hartford to Colchester. They had 11 children most of whom were born in Colchester, Connecticut. Lydia died November 2, 1763 in Kent, Connecticut. Just over 2 years later on January 8, 1766, he married second Mrs. Zerviah Nobie of New Milford, Connecticut.[1]

Jordan gives the marriages to Lydia Day on December 22, 1722 and to Serviah Noble on January 8, 1766. Then the author implies Serviah was the mother of Joseph's eleven children who were born between 1723 and 1741 which was before his 1766 marriage to Serviah[3] and the death of Lydia.

These comments about Joseph Fuller are from Fuller Genealogies:[1]

... In 1738 or 39 he removed to Kent, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was one of the founders of the church at Kent, April 29, 1741; his wife joined by letter May 10, 1741. He was a deacon in the church, and next to the minister the foremost man of the town. He owned extensive tracts of land in Kent. Church records: "Feb. 12, 1741-2 att a Lawfull Chh meeting voted and made choice of Mr. Joseph Fuller to Be a Deacon of this Chh."

Kent town records: "Joseph Fullers mark is a crop on the Left Ear and a half penney the under side of the Right Ear. Dec. 5, 1739."

Deacon Joseph Fuller probably left no will. He made several deeds of gifts to his sons about 1757-1760, as shown on Kent land records.

Deacon Joseph Fuller and his wife Lydia were buried at North Kent.

Research Notes

Jordan's account has attributed the children of Joseph to the wrong wife:[3]

GENEALOGICAL AND PERSONAL MEMOIRS. SiJ ... Joseph Fuller, son of John and Elizabeth Fuller, was married December 22, 1722, to Lydia Day, and after her death was married on January 8, 1766, to Mrs. Serviah Noble, this marriage taking place in Connecticut. Their children were: Joseph, born in 1723; Rachel, 1723; Zachariah, 1725; Grace, 1726; Jeremiah, 1728; Lydia, 1729; Mindwell, 1730; Ruth, about 1735; Abraham, October, 1737 ; Jacob, 1739 ; and Isaac, who was born in 1741, and was married November 5, 1769, to Sarah Kelsey. Joseph Fuller, the son of Joseph and Ser^-iah (Noble) Fuller, was married August 10, 1752, to Zerviah Hill. He bought land in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, from the Indians, June 19, 1767. Later he emigrated to Pennsylvania, and his will is recorded at Wilkes-Barre. To him and his wife were born nine children... NOTE: All the children were born years before Joseph married Zerviah.Fuller-5853 22:41, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
