He started the family businesses of a metal foundry, blacksmithing, and built a gristmill". Deacon Matthew Briggs is interred at the Dighton Town Cemetery in Dighton, MA. Additionally interred at the Dighton Town Cemetery are spouse Abigail (Burt) Briggs (1676 - 1752).
