Was this William full-blooded Muscogee/Creek (native American)? At least three sources on the Internet (which should be found again) point out that his son William "Will" was full-blooded Muscogee/Creek, which means that this William had to be full-blooded Muscogee/Creek also. However, Brian D. Worthy's "WANTED - Decendants of Black Creek Indians by Blood listed on 1910 Indian Population Schedule Census" message at Ancestry.com implies that all of the people listed in it are part Muscogee/Creek and part black, and this William is one of the listed people (search for "Wiley SAMPSON"). Further research is warranted.

Date and place of death have also been (erroneously?) reported to be May 28, 2001 at Leisure Manor, Okmulgee, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States (unattested).
