MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 1 OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Oct 23 2012 "Obituaries: Dean Salo" WATERLOO, Iowa — Dean E. Salo passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Allen Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 from natural causes. He was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Iron River, the son of John and Esmeralda (Ask) Salo. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Margarie Riggs on Jan. 31, 1970 at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2011. He was a member of the AMVETS, enjoyed woodworking and was very talented. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margarie; two sons, Rudolph and Randolph Salo; a daughter Karla Rutter; three grandchildren, Patrick Parker and April and Ernest Pohlman; and a sister, Alrene Schram. He is survived by a son, Jerry (Shannon) Rutter of Lakeville, Minn.; six daughters, Teresa (Kevin) Olson of Evansdale, Minn., Linda (Todd) Ambrose of Elk Run Heights, Ia., Pam (Rick) Pohlman of Louisville, Ken., Deanna Parker of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susanna (Mark) Morin of Lake City, S.C., and Julie Eagle; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Norman Salo of Brethren, Dennis Salo of Hobart, Wis., and Alvin Salo of Iron River. Memorial services were held Oct. 20 at the Evansdale AMVETS. Memorials: may be directed to the family. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, Ia.
